Andrology:

·      Basic Semen Analysis (count, motility, morphology): Using either on-site collection or a sample brought from home, we analyze the semen sample to effectively determine its fertility quality, which includes concentration (sperm count), motility (ability to swim), morphology (appearance), and semen fluid abnormalities (color, agglutination, PH, viscosity, red blood cells, round cells).  This comprehensive analysis allows our doctors to direct patients toward treatment options that best serve their needs.

·      Cryopreservation of Sperm: Sperm cryopreservation is a process where sperm are preserved by cooling to sub-zero temperatures, typically in liquid nitrogen, for whatever period of time is designated by our patients, ensuring that we have sperm on hand for procedures in a variety of circumstances such as when the male partner cannot produce a specimen on-site and future use, at which time our laboratory uses the thawing technique.

·      Sperm Aspiration from the Epididymis or Testicle (PESA,TESA or TESE): Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA) is a method in which a fine needle is used to draw thin pieces of tissue containing sperm from the testes. This procedure is used in patients where sperm cannot be found in the semen. Percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA) is usually used in patients with some sort of obstruction of the male tubes.

·      Retrograde Ejaculation Semen Analysis: There are instances in which ejaculate may flow backwards (retrograde) into the bladder.  Men with diabetes mellitus, those who have had certain surgeries, or those who use certain medications are at risk for retrograde ejaculation. Retrograde semen analysis is the harvesting of sperm from the bladder.  Once sperm is retrieved, it is washed and prepared for further use in ART.

Embryology:

·  In-Vitro-Fertilization    IVF

- Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection  ICSI

·      Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer (GIFT):  An ART procedure in which a woman's eggs are removed from one or both of her ovaries. Through very small incisions in the abdomen, the unfertilized eggs and sperm are then transferred into a woman's fallopian tube via a laparoscope by means of a catheter. This procedure is suitable for couples who have religious ethical issues with IVF/ET.

·      Zygote Intra-fallopian Transfer (ZIFT): In this ART procedure, eggs are collected from a woman's ovary.  They are then fertilized outside her body. Once fertilized, the resulting zygote, or fertilized egg, is laparoscopically placed into her fallopian tube by means of a catheter through a small incision in her abdomen.

·      Tubal Embryo Transfer (TET): This ART uses both IVF and tubal transfer procedures.  In this procedure, an embryo(s) is laparoscopically  placed into one of a woman's fallopian tubes by means of a catheter.  It is considered a minor outpatient surgical procedure.

·      Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET): An ART procedure in which frozen, or cryopreserved embryos, are transferred once they are thawed into a woman's uterus.

·
Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET): An ART procedure in which frozen, or cryopreserved embryos, are transferred once they are thawed into a woman's uterus.

·      Laser Assisted Hatching (AH): Assisted hatching describes techniques wherein a slit is created in the shell of the embryo prior to transfer, allowing for easier hatching when it develops into a blastocyst.  We use laser technology to perform this delicate procedure with accuracy, which ensures a higher success rate.

·      Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening & Diagnosis (PGS and PGD): Used in conjunction with IVF/ICSI, PGS tests embryos for chromosomal makeup while PGD tests for genetic diseases/genetic mutations, which are commonly passed on through the mother and/or father to the unborn child.

Hormonal Services:

·      Hormonal Testing: Patients are tested to evaluate the hormonal levels such as Estrogen (E), Progesterone (P), Lutenizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) in their bodies at all stages of their treatment process.
